Mucho Gusto Ultimate logo

Tucson, Arizona is home to Mucho Gusto, a competitive women’s club team that competes in the fall club series. Mucho Gusto had its first season in 2007 and competed in the Southwest Regionals in San Bernadino, coming in 4th place. The team was founded in the spirit of growing high-level women’s ultimate in Tucson . This effort started in 2005 with a tri-city women’s Arizona team called blAZe which had players from Tucson , Phoenix , and Flagstaff . After two great seasons with blAZe, Tucson players decided it was best to form an all Tucson team that would draw from more local talent such as the University of Arizona women’s team Scorch. Other efforts to promote women’s ultimate in Tucson include regular open women’s practices and a winter recreational women’s league.

Mucho Gusto prides itself in being a team that is competitive, but still fun, which is seen in the impressive team dynamics on the field. Our team family of 2007 ranged in age from 18 to 41, and we had two mom’s on the team!

Mucho Gusto holds tryouts in May, and regular practices ensue starting in June. The team attends several summer tournaments, which last year included Solstice in Eugene, OR, Discos Calientes in Chico, CA, and Chicago Heavyweights.

For more information on practices and trying out for the team, please contact captains Lisa Shipek or Heather Haskell.
